The Society for Medical and Biological Engineering NSW Inc (SMBE NSW) was founded in 1966 to advance the cause of Biomedical Engineering in New South Wales. Our aim is the advancement, use and understanding of Biomedical Engineering through research and practice, the promotion and interchange of ideas and interests in this area as well as the representation of persons working in these fields. Since 1966 the SMBE NSW has firmly established itself in Biomedical Engineering and Clinical Technology and has experienced an increase in membership not just from NSW and QLD but also from the other states and territories of Australia. It is now one of the largest Biomedical and Clinical Engineering organizations in Australia.

Bruce Morrison

Honorary Secretary

Bruce Morrison has an electrical engineering degree from UNSW and a Master of Applied Science in Clinical Measurement from UTS. He is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, a chartered professional engineer and is registered on the National Engineers Register. He is the immediate past president of the Society for Medical and Biological Engineering, NSW Inc. and currently the honorary secretary, and has been chairman and deputy chairman of the Board of the College of Biomedical Engineers, and a member of the National Committee for Clinical Engineering. He is the convenor of the annual SMBE biomedical engineering conference.
